Typographic Poster

Poster Competition, Artevelde University of Applied Sciences

This poster was part of an assignment while attending Artevelde University of Applied Sciences as a graphic designer. The goal was to make a typographic poster about a poem written by another student. This poem was written by Brecht Verdoodt.

The poem had a very sad and depressing aura, so that is why the visuals reflect this feeling. The words 'Duisternis' (Darkness) are made by shoving papers on a printer, achieving a scary effect. The rest of the poem is written by hand, a carefully picked choice, to make the words feel more human and depressing instead of a generic typography.

The poster actually won a prize in the competition, which makes me very proud. I won a sample book from Fedrigoni which I cherish deeply. The poster was also printed in a folder that was handed to all students, the printing technique used was 'screen printing'. That was the reason I only used 2 colours in the design.
